Frequently Asked Questions

1. General

What is Hyundai Evolve+?

Hyundai Evolve+ is a new way to experience the EV lifestyle without the high cost and commitment of a long-term lease or vehicle purchase. It is also a great option when you only need a vehicle for a few months or less than a year.

What kinds of vehicles are available?

Hyundai Evolve+ currently offers late model KONA Electric and IONIQ 5 electric vehicles. Other Hyundai electric and/or hybrid vehicles will be added in the future.

Where is Hyundai Evolve+ available?

Hyundai Evolve+ is currently available in southern New Jersey with plans to expand to additional markets.

What is the monthly cost?

The monthly cost varies and is determined by several factors including the type of vehicle and where the service is offered. Please download and check the Hyundai Evolve+ app to see the most current information.

What is included in the monthly payment?

As a Hyundai Evolve+ participant, your 28-day monthly payment includes maintenance, insurance, and roadside assistance.

Does the monthly payment include free charging?

The monthly payment does not include free charging. You will be responsible for charging the vehicle during the subscription.

How do I charge the vehicle?

You can slow-charge either vehicle using the included Level 1 charging cable accessory by connecting it to a standard household outlet.

If you have access to a 220/240V Level 2 home charger, charging times will be significantly faster. KONA Electric can go from 10% to 100% in about 9 hours, 15 minutes. IONIQ 5 with the 77.4 kWh battery can go from 10% to 100% in around 7 hours, 10 minutes, or with the 58.0 kWh battery in approximately 5 hours, 50 minutes.

Level 3 DC ultra-fast public charging stations provide even faster charging, though charging speeds will vary. For KONA Electric, a 50-kW charging station can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in about 64 minutes, while a 100-kW charging station can do the same in approximately 47 minutes.

For IONIQ 5 with the 77.4 kWh battery, a 150-kW charging station can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in around 25 minutes, while a 250kW or higher charging station can do the same in about 18 minutes.

Public charging locations can be found using the Electrify America app or by visiting www.electrifyamerica.com.

Disclaimer: Actual charging time varies based on a number of factors, including current battery charge level, output of the charging unit, vehicle and battery settings and outside temperature.

2. Registration and Eligibility

What are the eligibility requirements?

• 25 years of age or older
• Credit score of 650 or higher
• At least 3 years of recent driving history and clean driving record
• Valid US driver’s license
• Valid credit card in your name (Debit/Prepaid cards are not accepted)

Is there any advance or down payment needed?

The only payment required is your 28 day subscription payment and a non-refundable $300 initiation fee.

How long does the application take?

The application process will take approximately 5 minutes and can be done from your mobile device. You will need your driver’s license and your credit card to complete your application. Once completed, it will take up to 2 days to validate your driver’s license and eligibility. When your application is approved, you will receive a notification from Hyundai Evolve+.

Will credit check affect my score?

The application process includes a credit check to determine eligibility. You must have a credit score of 650 or greater to qualify. The credit check will not affect your score.

Once my application has been approved, what happens if my payment or driver’s license information changes?

You will need to keep your account information up to date. Use the My Account feature in the app to keep track of your information and update your payment information. To change your driver’s license information, simply contact customer service via the app.

I signed up but there are no vehicles available. How long will I have to wait?

There is no guarantee that we will have a vehicle available. Please be patient and check your email for updates on where your application stands and your place on the waiting list.

Can I use my Hyundai Evolve+ car to drive for Uber, Lyft, or other sharing economy platforms?

No. Our service does not allow for any on-demand delivery services, ride-hailing, carsharing or any other sharing services and all are strictly prohibited. Violation of this policy will result in an immediate termination of your subscription, expulsion from the program, payment of fees, excess wear, mileage and the return of your vehicle.

3. Your First Vehicle

How do I get my first vehicle?

You can select a vehicle, schedule your pickup, and pay for your subscription, all through the mobile app.

How long can I subscribe to a vehicle?

All vehicles come with a monthly subscription (28-day terms). You can renew as frequently as you would like, pending vehicle condition and eligibility.

Do I have a mileage limit?

The 28-day monthly term includes 1,000 miles. If you exceed 1,000 miles in 28 days, your account will be automatically charged at $20.00 per increment of 100 miles until you reach 1,500 miles. Thereafter, every mile over 1,500 will be charged at a rate of $1.00 per mile.

What if I run out of battery?

If you run out of battery, the Hyundai roadside assistance program can tow the vehicle to the nearest charging station or Hyundai dealer for charging.

Can other people drive my vehicle?

No. Only the approved driver, who is in good standing and who has paid for a specific vehicle, is eligible to drive it. Allowing someone to drive the vehicle who is not the registered driver and/or participant of the subscription service will automatically disqualify you from our program and makes you personally liable for anything that happens to the vehicle.

4. Renewing and Returning the Vehicle

How do I renew my current vehicle?

To renew your subscription, tap the Renew button on the “My Current Drive” screen. From there, you will be able to select a subscription term, view pricing, and pay.

How do I return my current vehicle?

If you opt not to renew your subscription, click the appropriate button in the app. If you choose to return your vehicle you will be prompted to schedule your return.

Can I swap vehicles with available inventory in the fleet?

No, not currently. However, we are exploring these options as we continue to grow and expand this service. We will send out an email communicating any new changes or additions to the program, so make sure you are subscribed to our email communications.

What do I need to do on the day of my vehicle pick up or drop off?

You will be required to show your driver’s license and credit card at the time of your pickup. An EVOLVE+ representative will explain how the vehicle works, what to do in case of an accident or a breakdown and will answer any questions you may have.

When you drop off the vehicle, the Hyundai Evolve+ representative will begin an inspection and will discuss your options for resolving any issues they find.

What is involved in a vehicle inspection?

During the vehicle inspection, a Hyundai Evolve+ representative will check the cleanliness of the vehicle and will note any interior or exterior damage. Vehicle inspections help Hyundai Evolve+ keep vehicles in top shape for you and other participants.

5. Vehicle Issues

What happens if my Hyundai Evolve+ vehicle breaks down?

If you experience a vehicle breakdown, call Hyundai roadside assistance service at 800-243-7766. When it is safe to do so, please call your local Hyundai Evolve+ dealer customer service line (view the contact number in-app) so they can arrange to get you another vehicle. Calls made to customer service after regular business hours will be responded to at the beginning of the next business day.

What does maintenance coverage include?

Maintenance includes periodic vehicle checks of key systems and components per the manufacturer’s recommended schedule. You do not need to keep track of your vehicle’s maintenance schedule since Hyundai Evolve+ does that for you. If your vehicle is due for maintenance, Hyundai Evolve+ will contact you to arrange a service appointment.

Maintenance or Service deemed to be necessary due to negligent use will be the financial responsibility of the subscriber as per our terms of the user agreement.

When am I covered under the Hyundai Evolve+ insurance policy?

The Hyundai Evolve+ insurance covers you when you are driving the vehicle for personal use. You are covered by a liability and collision policy with a combined single limit of $300,000, with an underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage limit of $50,000 bodily injury coverage per person and $100,000 bodily injury coverage per accident. You will be required to pay a $1,000 deductible per accident.

Our insurance policy does not provide coverage if you drive the car for any commercial reason including, but not limited to, delivery, rideshare, or any independent taxi or livery service. You will be financially responsible for any claims that are caused while driving the vehicle in these ways.

What is covered under roadside assistance?

Our roadside assistance service provides breakdown help, including towing, unlocking the vehicle, and any other service needed when an incident or breakdown occurs. If you need roadside assistance, please call 800-243-7766 or go to the Account feature and tap the Roadside Assistance button to be connected with a customer care agent. Please know that response times vary, depending on your location and time of day.

How do I pay for things like parking tickets or tolls?

Hyundai Evolve+ will be billed for any e-tickets or e-toll payments you incur. Once Hyundai Evolve+ receives the bill, your account will be charged, and you will be notified of the charges via email.

If you receive any physical tickets, citations, or toll charges tied to the vehicle, you are responsible for contacting your local Hyundai Evolve+ dealer to make payments.

In the event we are unable to collect payment for these fees, your Hyundai Evolve+ participation may be suspended until payment is received.

What should I do if I get into a car accident?

First, please make sure you are safe. Then contact the police or 911 if appropriate. Once you and your passengers are safe, contact the insurance company at 877-212-2556 or the phone number listed on the insurance card, then contact your local Hyundai Evolve+ dealer.
